Teabaggers at the Wheel

The teabaggers in Congress have officially grabbed the wheel. They're not so cool as James Dean. Looks like we're going over.

And Slavery Leads to Full Employment....

Michelle Bachmann wants to eliminate the minimum wage...
"Literally, if we took away the minimum wage—if conceivably it was gone—we could potentially virtually wipe out unemployment completely because we would be able to offer jobs at whatever level."
I guess I give her credit for her honesty. If you apply this same logic to the "tax cuts create jobs" argument, it begs the question: why isn't every conservative calling for completely eliminating taxes altogether?

Teabaggers don't know what "teabagging" is either..

I wonder if the people who complain about the "homosexual agenda being pushed down [their] throats" know how funny that sounds to the rest of us normal Americans? Haha...Just noticed the article at the link is bylined "Charlie Butts" (snicker, snicker).

Full-Blown Idiot

This is what happens when teabaggers get elected...
Tim Donnelly crouched into a firing stance behind his chair and folded his hands in the shape of a gun.

Lawmaking, said the GOP assemblyman from San Bernardino, is "full-blown war," and guerrilla tactics are needed to win the battle against California Democrats' agenda. As Donnelly sees it, the liberals who dominate state government have betrayed the public with job-killing regulations and crushing taxes.

"We've got a .50-caliber with crosshairs and ... we're going to pick off two or three of them using this issue," he said.

Shutdown Debate Even More Cynical, Insidious and Ridiculous than Previously Stated Below

The reality of this government shutdown thing is, it's not about Paul Ryan's phantasmal 2012 budget, it's about whether the wingnuts will get their wish to cut off funding for Planned Parenthood. That's the hitch. Period. End of story. Full stop.

Remember when the conventional wisdom was that the teabaggers were a different kind of conservative, more concerned with tax cuts and spending than social issues? Erm...not so much.

Teabagger Wearing George Washington Costume Wants Politicians to Act Like "Adults"

...at about 1:00 of this clip:

Don't you get the feeling there's probably a Rascal parking lot somewhere off to the side at these Tea Party rallies?

I Hate Orange County Nazis

If this video clip weren't so depressing it would be embarrassing, but at this point in our nation's sad history I guess we shouldn't be surprised by much of anything. Witness a bunch of witless, fearful, ignorant Orange County, California, Americans imbeciles who dragged themselves off the couch and away from the Glenn Beck Show and Wheel of Fortune reruns to picket, heckle and harass some fellow citizens as they arrived at a fund-raiser for underprivileged children.

Sickening. Disgusting. Ultimately quite sad.

Robert Cruickshank at Calitics has more.

Shawna Forde Gets the Death Penalty

And good riddance. Who is Shawna Forde, you may ask? She's a psychotic, racist, teabagger "minutemen" type in Arizona who took the GOP's anti-immigrant rhetoric straight to heart and shot and killed a Hispanic American man and his 9-year-old daughter.

Needless to say, this story, which represents the culmination -- strike that...the nadir, actually -- of the Palin/Beck/O'Reilly call to arms against Mexicans, gays, abortion providers, environmentalists and, of course, liberals, goes largely unreported in the mainstream media, where tortuous reaches for false equivalence compel reporters to speculate whether Jared Loughner may have been a "leftist radical" and David Gregory spends 5 minutes browbeating the president of the AFL-CIO into denouncing the "hateful posters" of the demonstrators in Madison, Wisconsin, when the real story there is that the protesters who spent the night inside the Capitol rotunda got on their hands and knees each morning to scrub the floors and clean the building.

The sad truth remains, it's the right-wing of this country that has gone completely, 100%, murderously crazy.

Counter-Protesters Arrive in Madison

Looks like the teabaggers finally showed up to demonstrate in Madison. You can spot them by the misspelled and grammatically incorrect protest signs.

Roaring into the 21st 19th Century

The wing-nuts are really feeling their oats these days. If you're wondering with life might be like in Red State Paradise, you need look no further than the maneuvering of movement conservatives in [red] state legislatures across the country.

In South Dakota, for example, they're considering a bill that would reclassify the murder of abortion providers as "justifiable homicide." Under some interpretations of the proposed law, it might even be legal to kill the expectant mother.

In Missouri, they are considering what amounts to a complete repeal of child labor laws.

In Mississippi, some rednecked assholes are proposing a "specialty license plate" honoring one of the founders of the Ku Klux Klan.

In Texas, if you have a concealed-carry weapons permit, you get to skip to the front of the line when entering government-owned buildings such as the state capitol.

Remember, these are the same states where legislators are passing bills against sharia law. You can't make this stuff up.

Today's GOP: Dumb as a Box of Rocks

Perhaps that's giving them too much credit.

Honestly, by what means can rational people argue against this depth of willful ignorance? I hate Iowa Republicans.

Ain't No Party like a Tea Party

You had to know once the Tea Partiers got to Washington they'd be in for a whole host of surprises about the inner workings of the government. First they learn you can't just lop off $100-million in spending with no regard for the consequences. Now their favorite spiteful icon on the US Supreme Court informs them that, sorry Virginia, budgetary earmarks are perfectly constitutional.

The Right's Ring of Power: HATE

via driftglass:
The sad truth is that Hate is the Right's Ring of Power. They're never going to give it up, because they know the minute they do -- the minute they're no longer allowed to pretend that Liberals are evil, freedom-hating fifth-columnist monsters who are dragging America into a Marxist abyss on the secret orders of our Kenyan Usurper Overlord -- their whole ideology would implode...

...they would never win another election...

...and tens of thousands of powerful, well-remunerated insiders from Rush Limbaugh to David Gregory who depend on that hate for their daily bread would suddenly have to go out and find honest work.

Words, Deeds, Consequences

The provocateurs among us will never take responsibility for the mayhem wrought by their words and deeds.

For example, you probably never heard about this "isolated incident," in which the state of Wyoming stopped collecting sales tax at gun shows because it was too dangerous...

July 2, 2010—The Wyoming Department of Revenue suspends sales tax collections at the state's gun shows because of "increasing animosity" toward field tax agents. Dan Noble, director of the department's Excise Tax Division, cites one particular incident at a gun show that "crossed the line" and says, "We tend to have more trouble at gun shows than any place ... I have 10 field reps throughout the state, and every one of them has experienced some animosity ... I don't want to put my people at risk."

There are literally dozens more instances listed here, under the headline "Insurrectionism Timeline." It's a startling recap of two full years of right wing hate.

Assassination Attempt

This is the result of your hateful rhetoric, you teabagging motherfuckers. There's blood on your hands Glenn Beck and Bill O'Reilly. Pardon my French, but this is extremely upsetting. I'd like to think this will come out as the act of one deranged psycho, but if you fools on the Right don't come to realize your hateful, unhinged rhetoric is laying the groundwork for this sort of tragedy, then you are as much to blame as the fool who pulled the trigger. Six people DEAD?!?!? Are you fucking kidding me?

Whitewash

As their first order of business, the sanctimonious, grandstanding Republicans in the House of Representatives are using their new-found majority to wrap themselves in God and country and read the US Constitution start to finish, which got me to wondering how they'd deal with that whole part about how blacks only count as three-fifths of a full human being, but it appears they've decided to skip over that bit of ugliness writ large by the Founding Fathers.

Hah! They've also decided not to read the 18th Amendment, which was ratified in 1920 and outlawed the sale of alcohol throughout the land.

Prohibition was repealed by the 21st Amendment in 1933.

No word on which lucky Republican gets to read the 14th Amendment -- which grants citizenship to any person born on American soil (such as "anchor-babies") -- or the 16th -- which grants the government the power to "lay and collect taxes."

Teabaggers: They're Everywhere

Baltimore Orioles outfielder Luke Scott exposed as a Ted Nugent loving, empty-headed, Obama-hating, birther teabagger...
David Brown (Yahoo sports): You don't think that Obama wasn't born in the United States, do you?

Luke Scott: He was not born here.

DB: [Sighs].

LS: That's my belief. I was born here. If someone accuses me of not being born here, I can go — within 10 minutes — to my filing cabinet and I can pick up my real birth certificate and I can go, "See? Look! Here it is. Here it is." The man has dodged everything. He dodges questions, he doesn't answer anything. And why? Because he's hiding something.

You know what? People who have bad intentions, people that are deceivers or are not of honor and integrity — that's how they act. I've seen it in every — it doesn't matter what level. It can be in politics, it can be in business, it can be in sports, it can be in the construction field. Doesn't matter. It's all the same attitude. It's the same thing.

People who tell the truth, they're very easy to ... their actions prove it. Something as simple providing a birth certificate. Come on. If you're born here, there's plenty of documents. But you know what? There's no documentation of him. No legal documentation of him. There's been lie after lie after lie exposed, but people put it under the carpet. Hence, the problem we have in this country.

Oy.

Wise Up: Go Get a Real Job

If you didn't know already, your humble editor at Scattershot is a public sector employee and, I must say, I'm getting really, really -- really -- sick and tired of hearing people who work in my office, in my department, and in my particular division of government, spouting the full-blown angry conservative line of lower taxes, reduced social spending, anti-immigrant, anti-welfare, anti-food stamps, anti-unemployment benefits, anti-helping anyone ever forever fervor.

Hey there, right-wing whack-job co-workers, guess what? You get paid by the freaking government, don't you get it? If you really think the government is a bloated, inefficient bureaucracy doling out cash to the undeserving, then I'd recommend you stop debating me at the water-cooler and resign your position, post haste, forgoing of course your salary, your health care subsidy, your vacation days, your paid sick leave, your paid holidays, your defined-benefit retirement plan and your little effing desktop transistor radio that pumps Limbaugh, Beck, Hannity and O'Reilly into your vacuous, empty little brain for 8 hours each and every day while you're pretending to assess other peoples' taxes.

Staggering Hypocrisy

Newly-elected anti-health care reform teabagger congressman is pissed -- pissed, I tell you -- that his gold-plated federal health insurance plan doesn't kick in until 30 days after he's sworn in.

They Write Letters

How many times do you think this guy voted for George W. Bush?
A gray cloud

Life has not changed for the better for anyone except the Obamas in the past two years. I never thought in my lifetime I would see people running the White House who would bring more disgrace to that place than the Clintons. I was wrong, the Obamas make the Clintons look almost OK.

The First Lady has gone from tending gardens at the White House to a world traveler taking guests, personal attendants, airplanes and crews.

Congress has done things that will adversely affect our country for years to come.

President Barack Obama has made a lot of pay backs to large contributors of his election in the form of United States ambassadors, czars, etc.

It seems that everything is being investigated — car companies, banks, oil spills. Why aren’t we investigating the president? There is a big gray cloud hanging over our heads with a bleak future.
