Not the Best Defense (of the Indefensible)

Jay Paterno went on ESPN last night to defend his father's legacy, in part by saying (roughly transcribed from memory): "This incident was a very small part of an extremely large life. When considering Joe Paterno's legacy you have to look at the whole picture. He did a lot of good for a lot of people." [emph. added, ed.]

What goes unspoken there (I'm not sure if he actually thought you wouldn't remember, or what) is that this "extremely small part" of Paterno's life involved not reporting the violent sexual abuse of young boys by one of his football coaches!!!

And let that never be forgotten.
