The reality of the health care/health insurance situation in this country is that it remains on an unsustainable course unless and until we tear it down to the foundation and rebuild. I just received notice of yet another increase in my health insurance premium -- this time a 13.8% boost -- that is compounded by an 18% increase in my annual deductible. This plan was one of the notorious Blue Cross plans that saw a 39% increase just last year. Meanwhile, the CEO of the company offering me this wonderful coverage made $13,108,198 in 2009. Thank you Wellpoint/Anthem/Blue Cross!
Someone please tell me again why this for-profit system is preferable to a government-backed, single-payer health care? My annual outlay, including deductible -- before ever stepping foot in a hospital or doctor's office -- is now over $10,000 per year.
