The People's Budget

In case you haven't heard, the Congressional Progressive Caucus has offered up its own budgetary plan for the future. They are calling it The People's Budget. When Congressman Paul Ryan unveiled his Republican budget a couple of weeks ago -- the one that eliminates Medicare and shreds the nation's social safety net at the same time it cuts taxes again for the wealthy -- it was hailed as a courageous act that "moves the discussion forward."

Uh, excuse me?

A Republican teabagger politician calling for spending cuts and tax cuts is not an act of courage, it's an act of repetitive echolalia. We've heard this all before. It's banging your head against the wall and, at its core, it is not a realistic solution to the country's fiscal problems. The People's Budget, the one that calls for tax increases, is the one that took real political courage to present. And of course it's the one you're yet to hear about.

Isn't it time for an "adult conversation?"
