We'd be remiss if we didn't offer much respect to Poly Styrene, lead singer of the seminal punk/ska rockers X-Ray Spex. Poly died Monday at age 53 after a struggle with cancer of the breast and spine. Her opening words on X-Ray Spex' most famous song:
"Some people think little girls should be seen and not heard...oh bondage, UP YOURS!!!"...should be carved into a feminist monument somewhere so that Joan Jett, Gwen Stefani, Avril LaVinge and countless other female rockers can go worship the ground Poly walked on....
