He hired (and fired) Billy Martin 5 times; he brought in Mr. October to "stir the drink;" he signed the Goose and Sparky Lyle, Catfish Hunter and Thurmon Munson, Derek Jeter and Mariano Rivera; love him or hate him, he resotred the Yankees to greatness and damn well help save baseball along the way. George Steinbrenner passed away today at 80.
