A woman at work today (a woman whom, sadly, I respected, until today) asserted that she won't vote for Barack Obama because he's a Muslim. She came over later --presumably because she saw the disbelief and consternation in my face -- to clarify her statement. It's not just because he's a Muslim, she explained, that she won't vote for him. It's because she would never vote for a Muslim over a patriot.
Christ Almighty, we are doomed.
