I've rooted out another example of Tea Party disconnect.
Teabaggers are fond of claiming that "50% of all Americans pay no taxes." When you point out that people at the lower end of the economic ladder do indeed pay taxes -- in the form of FICA and SSI payroll deductions (even on unemployment benefits!) -- they are oddly silent. When you note that President Obama did in fact lower income taxes on 95% of all Americans (through a 2% payroll tax cut), they recite the litany of other taxes levied on all Americans (sales taxes, fuel taxes, use taxes, car taxes...).
So which is it teabaggers?
"50% pay no taxes"...or...we are all "taxed enough already?"
