With the lunatics in the House Republican Caucus failing yet again to pay any mind to the financial catastrophe they have created -- tossing aside another potential deal to end the shutdown on the pretense that the government already spends too much money on things like senior nutrition programs, food stamps, early childhood education, environmental protection, national parks, space exploration etc...etc... -- it's worth remembering than the United States spends more than $800-billion per year solely on national defense.
That's nearly half our entire annual budget right there, and it's more than the rest of world spends combined.
