Swing District: CA 24

Living in deepest blue California, we don't often get to participate in the "fun" of disruptive candidate campaign visits, misleading robocalls and saturation television ads, but this year, with California's 24th congressional district seemingly more competitive than ever, my teevee has become lousy with political commercials.

Thanks to congressional redistricting, incumbent Democrat Lois Capps is going at it hammer and tong with upstart challenger Abel Maldonado, and we've reached the point in the race where I'd say close to two-thirds or three-quarters of every television commercial aired during prime time features one of them slagging the other. At one point last night, all four commercials during one break featured Lois or Abel (two each).

The oddsmakers still think she's going to win.
