Beyond Hypocrisy

This is the kind of infuriating story that makes you understand, when you get right down to it, that EVERYONE IS INHERENTLY PRO-CHOICE. Lots of people just don't realize it until they find themselves in a situation that demands they make some really hard decisions. The fact that this "family-values" hypocrite actually tried to pressure a woman into having an abortion -- rather than supporting her choice -- only makes it worse.
WASHINGTON -- A pro-life, family-values congressman who worked as a doctor before winning election as a Tea Party-backed Republican had an affair with a patient and later pressured her to get an abortion, according to a phone call transcript obtained by The Huffington Post.
The congressman, Rep. Scott DesJarlais of Tennessee, was trying to save his marriage at the time, according to his remarks on the call, made in September of 2000. And, according to three independent sources familiar with the call and the recording, he made the tape himself.
The issue here of course, is that this douchebag of a congressman will never change his public position on abortion simply because of his personal situation.  He's a card-carrying, Bible-thumping, flag-waving member of the American Taliban.
