Putting a Chink in the Biblical Version of Events

Following up on the earlier post wondering how a body can have 10 times more microbes living on/in it than its total number of cells (really, WTF? is up with that, people), and sticking with the "let's be mean to young Earth Christians" meme, what do you suppose your friendly neighborhood Thumper is to make of this recent discovery?
A team of Japanese astronomers claims to have used the Subaru and Keck telescopes at Hawaii's Mauna Kea, pictured above, to observe a galaxy 12.91 billion light years from Earth. If their findings are correct (and the majority of astronomers thus far agree they are), it could well be the oldest galaxy ever discovered.
12.91 billion years vs. 6,000 years. Quite the gulf.
