One thing I've never understood about the conservative "less government" mantra is why these people are so willing to take a government job -- and with it the concomitant perks and benefits -- if they hate the institution so thoroughly. Look we get it, you want to drown the government in a bathtub, but why don't you let the people interested in accomplishing things through good government just do their jobs without all the vitriol and dirty tricks? And if you do manage to finagle an elected position in the government you loathe so completely, why don't you decline the perks?
