With regard to Jared Loughner's sanity, let me put it this way: Anyone who goes on a shooting spree in a supermarket parking lot -- killing 6 people and injuring 14 others -- is crazy as a loon. He's done gone 'round the bend! That doesn't absolve him of responsibility, nor does it preclude the national discussion about the effects of our caustic political discourse.
