Don't Ask Don't Tell Repeal Moves Forward

A big day for the effort to repeal the Don't Ask Don't Tell policy. Senate Democrats broke a Republican stealth filibuster by securing a 63-33 "cloture" vote to end debate on the issue, meaning the repeal with get a straight "up-or-down" vote, most likely sometime tomorrow. Passage there -- requiring just 51 votes -- is viewed as a foregone conclusion.

The DREAM Act, on the other hand, was not so lucky. It died on a 55-41 vote (in favor of passage, but short of the 60 needed to move forward).
