With all the recent controversy over the "Ground Zero Mosque," not to mention citizen protests against proposed mosques in Indiana, Jacksonville, and Riverside County, CA, I'd just like to take a minute and congratulate my own small town of San Luis Obispo, CA for its enlightened tolerance of our Muslim neighbors. The above photo is that of a newly constructed mosque (completed ~ December 2008) that was installed mere blocks from downtown. There was not a peep of protest during planning, approval or construction. Kudos, SLO-town. Imagine the outcry if they'd tried to build that thing in Paso Robles.
