More Lies

One of the on-going complaints coming from the Republican camp is that they were "not consulted" on the contents of the recently passed health insurance reform bill. Poppycock. I don't have the exact numbers on hand, but I believe that during the course of the measure's serpentine journey into law, the Republicans coughed up offered some 200 amendments. Most of them were frivolous nonsense designed simply to gum up the works, but about 70 of those amendments were included in the final legislation. Still, not one republican voted for the measure.

And here's just one example of the gutless, infuriating capitulation of Democrats as they sought to placate the Party of No: There is $250-million in there for those statistically ineffective and demonstrably harmful "Abstinence Education" programs. This incredibly wasteful amendment was inserted by Republican Orrin Hatch. The Dems, for whatever reason, put it in the final bill. Hatch still voted NO, just like every other Republican road-blocker, but the $250-mil made it through to the president's desk.
