In hindsight it's rather embarassing to think that John Edwards was my candidate of choice for a good portion of the 2008 campaign. He ultimately squandered the goodwill and populist idealism of many, many people. This lengthy excerpt from the new book Game Change reveals just what an unctuous, slimy, egomaniacal ass the man really is. I always said the one thing about him I really didn't like was his accent [Exhibit A being the way he says the word "impordant," with a 'D.'] Boy had I underestimated just how bad things really were. In fact, things were apparently so bad in the Edwards' camp that even poor, pitiable, cancer-stricken Elizabeth comes across as a fairly loathesome character.
